Aava is a distinguished centre in Basel, Switzerland, dedicated to child-parent support and a leading institute for Emotional First Aid (EEH) training. Aava provides holistic support on issues related to parenting, working closely with parents, babies, and children through a body-and-process-oriented approach. Their services include Emotional First Aid for parents and babies, attachment-oriented body psychotherapy (BKPT), systemic process support, and various body therapeutic methods like craniosacral therapy.

The Aava team approached Studio Zo for a comprehensive corporate rebranding to refresh its image whilst maintaining the attributes that make Aava recognisable. They sought a brand that would be visually calming and inviting, mirroring the peaceful and supportive environment they provide. Additionally, the rebranding needed to ensure the new identity was aesthetically pleasing and functional across various touchpoints, from digital platforms to printed materials.

The rebranding project for Aava began with an in-depth brand strategy phase, followed by the creation of a full logo suite and an extensive brand identity. There are three a's within the wordmark, so it was best not to give significance to any one letter—they are all equally important. This creates a harmonious, calming, non-competitive image. However, the letter' v' did receive special treatment. It symbolises growth, development, and sprouting.

The existing logo symbol, representing a mother and baby, was refined for better symmetry and balance. Its resemblance to a heart shape was enhanced, and it was ensured that it scales well across different mediums.

Outcome

The multidimensional brand identity perfectly encapsulates Aava's dual role, appealing to nurturing parents and students seeking wisdom. The rebranding was rounded off with a comprehensive brand style guide and various corporate collateral, ensuring a cohesive and consistent brand presence across all platforms.
