Edinburgh Woodwork Logo Re-Design.
Edinburgh Woodwork was created by Sandy Redpath to combine his passion of true craftsmanship and design with bespoke solid wood projects and-high end cabinetry.
Edinburgh Woodwork’s approach is a step away from the mass produced furniture of today. From the design, manufacture and installation they handle the whole process to ensure a stress free path from their client’s initial ideas through to having the final project in their home. They do this by taking their time to plan every project to incorporate time-proven cabinet making techniques and by using sustainably sourced solid wood of the highest grades to ensure consistent quality.
Sandy reached out to me wanting a refresh for his logo. His business was expanding and in order to portray the right brand message and attract the type of clients he desires, a new, stronger logo was needed.
I have ‘cleaned up’ the icon, thinning the strokes down and subtly simplifying the design, which was important in order for the symbol to scale down well. Edinburgh Woodwork has a strong social media presence, where the logo appears in a small size and has to be visible and clear.
The logo features a modified Slab Serif font. This wordmark speaks quality, craftsmanship and reflects the bespoke elements of the business. Square-cut serifs hint to wood joinery.
Custom Icon Design.
Minimal aesthetic is at the forefront of Edinburgh Woodwork brand. I have designed icons for Sandy that are playful, modern and minimal.
I have designed the look of Sandy’s website. He wanted something simple to use and easy for him to update in the future. Clean and minimal look to allow his craftsmanship to shine. I have then teamed up with Jonny from https://designbyjk.co.uk/ who built a responsive website that looks great on a variety of devices. The result is exactly what my client have asked for, a rewarding experience for all.
I approached Zo after seeing the branding work she did for Mia’s Italian Kitchen, I loved the look of it.
I had a pre existing logo which I needed to keep due to already having my business for a few years however she refined and simplified my logo to a much cleaner, classier and easier to look to digest. From there I then entrusted a full website build to Zo and I have been nothing but impressed. I explained the brief of what I needed the website to do, what I wanted it to convey and Zo took my very vague brief and distilled it down into a website which is better than I could have hoped for.
She communicates clearly, thinks outside of the box and delivered the website on time with room to spare. Within 1 day of the site being live, I had 2 new enquiries after 6 months with 0 on my previous self built site. Being self employed, I am desperate to find people who I can rely upon to get the job done correctly and without having to be involved in every tiny decision. For all future graphic design based work I’ll be going to Zo.
Thank you for everything.
